PHILOSOPHY
At the kindergarten, we support the immersion method of learning a
second language. This simply means that the children are immersed in an
English language environment. Approximately 80 to 100% of the
instruction is done in English. A daily routine is established and
through songs, stories and games the children learn what to expect.
Visual aids, gestures and body language are used to ensure
understanding. Creating a safe, comfortable environment encourages
children to relax and welcome this new experience. The program is
offered to children three to seven years of age as educational studies
have shown that early language immersion is the easiest and most
natural method for children to learn a second language. After all, it
is how they learn their first language. At the end of the school year,
a progress report is completed for each child. This is meant to serve
as a guideline for the parents and teachers in reviewing each child’s growth and development. With the world constantly changing, the benefits of learning another language are endless…
- The mother language is not delayed, but enhanced.
- A positive attitude is established towards other languages and cultures.
- The child’s creative and intellectual side is stimulated.
- The program is suitable for all children.
